Hi All,
I'm feeling sad. I said goodbye to the washing machine that I've had since 1994, today. It knows my moods and has worked hard for me. The delivery man surprised me by saying the new one will only last about 4 to 5 years. Was he jesting?? I have never spoken harshly in the hearing of my old machine (just in case it sulked) It has deserved its place in my heart.
Is it worth getting used to the new one? Please take me seriously although this sounds mad. It took a lot of searching to find one I could open the door and work the knobs. I had a lovely assistant at J.L.at Bluewater who saw my problems and TOTALLY understood my "weird" questions. The only good thing is that I can do the backlog of washing once it is connected.

Hi Anne,

We had to buy a new washer a few years ago now, about 7 or 8 years I think. When we were told the old one had to be replaced he said they don`t make them to last now - he thought we`d done extremely well to get 10 years out of it.

I have a Zanussi, and like you I practically whisper sweet nothings to it in order to keep it sweet. I don`t like ones with too many dials and functions - unless they invent one with a built-in ironer : I`d be first in the queue then!

Be nice to your new one, pat it gently as you pass, and it will soon find a place in your heart.

Kathleen x

Good luck Anne - the last 2 washing machines I've had should have had ASBOs!

Hi Anne

All the best with your new washing machine, I have had four in 20 years, love the one I've got now its a bosch with a bigger drum and with so much dirty football gear I can get it done in one go. My machine does a minimum of two washes a day and hasn't let me down yet {tempted fate by saying that}

Love John Lewis at Bluewater by the way, especially their sales.

Hi Anne,

Good luck with the new washing machine!
I have had 3 in 32 years. The latest one is only 7 years old and had just had a new motor put in so I have high expectations of it now!

Love, Doreen xx

Hi Anne

RIP old washer - and welcome to the new one!

I can't get my head round all the daft looking dials and buttons on ours, so I let Steve do the washing!

Take care
Love to you xxx
